It's official. We are headed west.
Despite our best efforts to be stationed back "home" we are being sent 3000 miles away. Home is the DC area for us. And we are headed to Washington. Just not the right one.
Next year promises to be full of surprises as we (or maybe just me?) travel (by van) the 3000 miles to the Pacific Northwest. We spent a year in Monterey, CA and enjoyed it there so hopefully Washington will be just as nice.
That's my brief update for now. My head is still spinning.
The babies have been screaming non-stop every evening for days now. We've tried probiotics, Rescue Remedy, and a homeopathic colic remedy. I know they are crying because of the gas and I know the gas is because they are gulping air when they are nursing... I just can't figure out how to stop them from swallowing the air. You'd think I'd know this since I'm a LLL Leader. I've narrowed it down to 3 possibilities: 1) my overactive letdown, 2) the thrush coming back, or 3) the tongue tie. Or maybe I'm super lucky and it's all 3?
Calgon, take me away!

Catherine had this, as well as lovely projectile vomiting. I had to lean all the way back in a recliner and nurse her on top of me. I'm not sure how that would work logistically with two, but the good news for us was that by 3 months old, she had adjusted to the flow, and was doing great.
Sorry to hear you're having problems, and I'm even sorrier to hear you have to relocate to Washington. That's a long way from home. How is the house sale going??
My DD is about the same age (a few days older) and we've had the same issue...I expressed a small amount off each breast yesterday before feeding, and her wind/gas was much better...
I also feed with her upright on my lap...is that possible with the boys?
Where in WA are you headed? We were stationed there for 3 years (Fairchild/Spokane) and loved every minute of it! All parts of WA are beautiful, though. I've left you a message at NPT, when you get a moment (ha!). I hope the boys' tummies settle down soon...I recall those days with my boys, too. The "6 week mystery colic" is what I dubbed it...
Im from Washington. Im guessing you are headed to the Tacoma area. (Fort Lewis?)
Enjoy the weather, start buying up the winter gear now. Its cold here.
Welcome welcome.
Sorry about that -- colic is SO hard to handle!
Oh, and I have lots of friends and family in Washington. It's a beautiful state; you'll love it even if it isn't home right away.
Wow you are headed out my way! I have been following your blog off and on for a bit now. I am in a great multiples group here in the Tacoma, WA area. If you are interested in joining...or getting some support from other twin moms once you move, let me know!
Best of luck in your move!
