Bottled water, anyone?

I don't know about everyone else, but I just don't the big deal about bottled water. I guess part of it is the environmentalist in me and part of it is my frugal side. But why would you pay for something that is inferior when you can get the better stuff for free? (And for once I'm not talking about breastmilk here!)

Did you know that both Dasani (made by Coke) and Aquafina (made by Pepsi) are both bottled municipal water? Yep, you pay $1 a bottle (or more) for something that comes out of the sink at the bottling plant. And then you have the plastic chemicals leaching into the water and the issue of consumer waste. So why do some many Americans drink this stuff?

I'll admit that I've bought bottled water a few times. Mostly out of convenience and no other option! It's far better to bring a reusable (non-plastic) bottle of your own water though. I've been debating for a few weeks on whether I want to get the Klean Kanteen or the SIGG bottles for me and the kids. Then I will never be tempted to buy bottled water in a pinch (or use plastic sippy cups!) if you use one or the other, let me know which one you prefer and why.

Oh, and on an unrelated note... Still no word on whether I'm "in trouble" or not. No AF and still having some strange phenomenon over here. I started charting again but it's really hard when you've got 2 toddlers waking up at night to nurse. I've been charting (on and off of course) for over 6 years now. By my best guess I believe I did ovulate recently. I need to wait a few more days and see what my temps do though. My body can do strange things when breastfeeding so I'm not making any assumptions until there is more to go on here. Let's just say that at the moment my chart does not look reassuring.

Still no AF here, either. Of course, this is the longest I've EBF and Simon's still not into grownup food too much.

Isn't San Francisco (or some city in CA) banning bottled water? I saw a news story on that a few weeks ago. I bet other cities will follow suit.

I am still trying to figure out the whole bottled water issue, too. I find that I only drink enough if I have it bottled. Why am I that way? I don't buy Dasani or Aquafina, though, and don't buy purified. But anyway- I REALLY need to get a SIGG!~

We like the taste of well water *shrug* and can't get used to bottled water. When we buy it, it's generally just to get the bottle :P

As far as AF, I'm so going to have to read more on your blog. We're not trying to prevent anything but I've been having weird things going on (have a 10 month old, no solids except for the organic fingerpaint that I pretend is solids) and have been trying to figure it out!

We rarely use bottled water. We have reverse osmosis since we're on municipal water so I just fill up a big cups of water with ice and drink all day long. I think it's a waste of money.

I haven't read your blog long enough to know if you want more children or not. So good luck either way!

Hanging my head in shame....

I drink bottled water. Mainy because our tap water tastes like chlorine. Seems in our area, they are doing so much to "purify" the water, that all you can taste are the chemicals. When you run it real hot, it smells like a pool. One of those areas where "progress" seems to be hurting things.....

Yes, San Francisco is banning water and a few other cities are planning to follow suit.

i have a KK & SIGG, the kids have SIGG bottles.

for ME, i prefer the KK. i like the wide mouth, & use the top with the loop on it. i hated the sport top, which is also why i don't love my sigg.

i liked the sport tops on the siggs for the kids. it's easier for them to use in the car & on the go than the wide mouth of the KK. i didn't like the "sippy" style for kids they offered.

i DO buy deer park water, though the 5 gallon ones, lol. we have a brita & a pur & i hate the taste of the water from them. you can even SMELL a difference.
